Habitat of Giraffes

Giraffes mainly live in open dry and open areas and especially regions with small trees. Regions without trees and lots of grass is not ideal at all for giraffes as it requires them to get down into low and awkward positions which is very difficult for them to get into these positions and also leaves them very open to predators like lions. Giraffes mainly live in the African region. The population of giraffes has gone down a lot over the years mainly because of the climate change and hunters. During dry seasons giraffes will live around lakes and river for water mainly. But during the wet seasons they move into the deciduous lands. They stay active during the night and normally rest during the times it is hot and will usually only rest for about 2 hours a day.

HUMAN INTERACTION
The problem about the giraffes natural habitat is shrinking due to humans. They are building new roads and different types of things which is clearing out the giraffes from that region and this means that its giving the giraffes a lot less space about where they can live. This is very bad cause more likely than not things like this happening will require the giraffes to then return back to where they previously were and it would no have given all of the plants and trees the right amount of time to have grown back and leaves them with a lot less food.

Lifestyle of giraffes

Giraffes mainly eat things like leaves and buds from trees . They also eat flowers and fruits but when in season but they rarely eat grass because it requires them to get into awkward positions which then will leave them very much open and vulnerable to predator's.  Giraffes normally eat 30kg of food a day but, they can survive on as little as 15kg of food. Giraffes do not sleep much but spend most of their time eating food (16-20) hour of eating a day Giraffes can go for weeks, months without drinking but usually drink around 7.5 litres of water a week.

In the wild giraffes will mainly eat things like leaves, plants and different things like fruits sometimes. But mainly giraffes will eat plants which they can reach easily and wont eat grass as much as said earlier. They have a special adaption which prevents blood from rushing to their heads when they are eating foods from the ground and this helps them a lot for when they are either drinking water or else when they are eating grass or other plants on the ground. Giraffes are herbivores which means that they do not eat any meat at all. this is why they only eat things like plants.

Facts On Giraffes

Giraffes are the tallest mammals in the world because of how long there legs and neck is. Female giraffes usually grow up to 14feet tall while males usually  grow up to 18 feet tall.Giraffes legs alone are taller then most people. Giraffes can run as quick as 56 kilometres an hour over short distances. They only have to drink once every couple of days and most of the water that they do drink comes from the plants that they eat. Giraffes are almost always standing up even when they sleep and giving birth. They only sleep for around 20 minutes every day and staying awake for most of the day keeps them aware of predators.

SPECIAL ADAPTIONS
Giraffes have long legs and necks also which they use to reach leaves in trees. Their back legs are shorter than their front legs which is also helps them to get to leaves. They also do not have to drink much at one time which helps them and keeps them safer because when they drink they go into awkward positions which leave them an easy target to predators.
SPECIAL FACTS
Not that many animals will ever attack adult giraffes but young giraffes do get attacked by animals like lions and leopards.
